The Best Way to Start the Day

As Americans we have our morning rituals. Some prepare a pot of coffee. Others take time to exercise. We may let our pets go outside to stretch and do their business. The news may be read or watched on television.  We may listen to the radio while we shower and dress. Our cell phones and social media are checked.

So many of the things we do prepare us for whatever we may face during the day. Much of our time is preoccupied with it. America and the world take over our thoughts from the moment we wake up.

When we follow this process, it is often hard to find peace of mind. Worry sets in. About things we can and cannot control. Our emotions lead us to form moods that not only affect us but others. If we are feeling good physically, we take it for granted. If we do not, then we wish for anything that will make us better.

The one constant in all of this is that we often try to go into each day wanting to do things on our own. There is no setting of a moral compass. That is if we have one.

If we are willing to try the best way to start our day is by giving our time to God before anyone or anything else. To find a quiet place to spend intimate time with Him.

When we are sincere in spending time with God there is no wrong way to do it. We can pray to Him and lay out all our burdens. We can pray for ourselves, others, our country, and the world. We can pray for Godly wisdom. We can read bible scripture. We can give Him our love through worship. We can simply be still and listen to His voice.

By starting the day with God, we separate ourselves from the world around it though we pray for it. We find a calming presence that helps us to ease into it instead of rushing and worrying about it.

The more we do this, the easier our days become. We find that inner peace we’ve been looking for. Though bad things may occur during our day it is easier for us to cope with them, because we have set our moral compass.

And we know that we have spent time with God. He has allowed us the opportunity to do it. And He has assured us that He will be with us always.

America will still be here when we are done. Hopefully, our outlook of it will be more positive. And hopefully our walk with God will make others more positive and receptive of Him as well. Maybe more of us will decide to begin the day with Him.

And what way to start the day.
